The Cinémathèque Française has been using Keepeek since 2015 to manage images for its exhibition projects.
Find out how the API enables it to link its media to its exhibition project management solution.
An indispensable day-to-day tool for 180 in-house users, Keepeek manages all Cinémathèque event photos and media related to exhibitions, the museum, retrospectives and screenings.
"Vampires, from Dracula to Buffy" is the current exhibition at the Cinémathèque. It features several hundred works: films, illustrations, cards, objects, photos and more. As with every Cinémathèque exhibition, to mount this event we had to gather and organize a lot of information about the works, with all their legal and logistical issues.
The Cinémathèque's problem was therefore as follows:
The Cinémathèque chose to keep two tools: Keepeek for media and Tiger, an application developed in-house by the IT department to manage all exhibition projects. Each tool benefits from essential functionalities for the teams setting up exhibitions.
Tiger is where all the exhibition information is centralized. This tool provides a dynamic table listing information on all the works in the exhibition. When you move your mouse over a work, a representative image is displayed on the fly.
However, no images are stored in Tiger. All images come from Keepeek via the API! This makes it easier to set up the scenography, and the loading time of the picture remains ultra-fast despite its hundreds of lines.
The IS department has also developed a Pinterest-style "cool view" display: images from Keepeek load as you scroll down the page, in mosaic form, by section of the scenography. Beneath the image, information on the works from Tiger is displayed, and a button allows the work to be added to the exhibition catalog.
Integration doesn't stop there.
From Tiger, you can load an image: it will be displayed but not stored in Tiger, and will be automatically transferred to Keepeek, along with the corresponding artwork information.
No duplication! Keepeek remains the single repository for all images.
Tiger, for its part, remains the single repository for data.
When information is modified or completed in Tiger, a night job updates the corresponding data in Keepeek, completely automatically: teams only have to enter the information in one place.
Users benefit from two high-performance solutions, each in its own field.
They communicate efficiently to offer consolidated content and facilitate day-to-day work. This has led to the creation of some wonderful exhibitions, such as " Vampires, from Dracula to Buffy ", which shows the evolution of the representation of vampires through history and cinema, in a dark and bewitching atmosphere!
Don't miss it, it's only until January 19, 2020!
We'd like to extend our warmest thanks to the Cinémathèque Française's IT department for our enriching discussions, and especially to Manuel Dufour and Taoufik Mahir!
